Review Jurassic Park - A Film Directed by Steven Spielberg (Movie Review Sample) Content: Jurassic ParkStudents NameInstitutional AffiliationJurassic Park.Jurassic Park is a film directed by Steven Spielberg, which is based on the written works of Michael Crichton in 1990. The movie was released in 1993 by universal laden pictures and became the first major instance to apply computer generated animated characters as well as live actions and animatronics. It, therefore, mixed the idea of computer-generated imagery and animatronic to produce dinosaurs, which were the first of their kinds displayed with textured muscles covered in skin. The film was a success in the movie industry and as a result, there was a massive surge in the use of computer-generated imagery in Hollywood. The film was, therefore, instrumental in changing the way things were done in Hollywood. The movie is based on the premise of scientific explorations. Scientists managed to extract the DNA of a dinosaur from the thorax of prehistoric mosquitoes, which were preserved for purposes of resea rch. The successful extraction of the DNA sample meant that a clone could be made out of it. The scientist, therefore, carried on with the process of cloning, recreating and subsequent breeding of a variety of dinosaurs. The motive of recreating the dinosaurs by cloning is to put them in a park for tourist activities, which would bring in cash. However, things do not go as planned as the dinosaurs get out of control even before the park is opened to the public. The genetically engineered dinosaurs become dangerous by inflicting gruesome and deadly injuries on the visitors who had come to see the progress in the park (Crichton, 2012).The idea to have dinosaurs in the park was that of a billionaire John Hammond. He wanted his grandchildren to see real living dinosaurs as opposed to just reading about them in a book. After the dinosaurs become wild and begin killing people, the scientists realize that they are unable to predict the behavior of the creatures as well as their abilities a nd adaptations. It possesses a significant mistake made by the creation of such creatures. The scientists could have determined the capabilities of the dinosaurs before actually bring them to life. A lesson to anyone who thought of doing the same in the future was seen when the same dinosaurs created by the idea of Hammond become the cause of his death. A chilling fact about the creatures is that they found ways of breeding by themselves hence guaranteeing their existence even without the help of the scientists themselves. The dinosaurs were also quite comfortable living outside the park, and that meant that the threat to humankind was still very high (Crichton, 2012).The film led to the realization that mixing computer-generated imagery with animatronics could be possible. In the movie industry, this was something that had not been tried out before, and it thus presented the best opportunity to develop such creativity. The creativity was in line to killing the boredom that was inev itable were movies to continue being created as they were. The message in the movie was also not meant just to entertain the audiences. Technological advancement, as well as an improvement in scientific research, was being brought out in the film. The advancement in technology saw it easier to create animations that would serve to entertain population of all age groups. It was also possible to bring to light even the most complex of human imagination through the advanced technology (Gurevitch, 2012).The film was also centered on scientific achievements. The cloning of creatures through science was something that could change the entire understanding of life to human beings. However, every good thing has challenges that come with it. The failure of the scientist to predict the behaviors and the adaptation of the dinosaurs was a major undoing to such scientific breakthrough. If further research is not done, then it meant that cloning of such creatures would not be recommended for the sake of the society. The idea to ...
